Master of arms Leonid Křížek
Maître d’armes Leonid Křížek studied fencing first with master Just (Bohemians) and later with the sport fencing instructors at the clubs Czech Fencing Club Riegel (est. 1902), Sokol Litoměřice and USK Praha.
Since 1961 he has been a member of the Czech Fencing Club Riegel (est. 1902). Here he studied classical fencing as well as the school of the military sabre (following maestro Luigi Barbasetti) under the tutelage of lieutenant colonel Eduard Wagner. He also studied bayonet fencing with fencing master Josef Šolc. Josef Šolc has been an active member of the Czech Fencing Club Riegel since 1949, and was a member of the first group of historical fencers in the Czech lands which was known as Musketeers and Bandits (Mušketýři & Bandité). This group was formed from the initiative of Riegelians lieutenant colonel Eduard Wagner and Dr. Jan Černohorský, and started its activities in 1962.
In the 80s and 90s of the last century, Mr. Křížek acted as advisor to a number of historical fencing groups, and took part in the first schools of historical fencing as instructor.
At the present time he is Master of arms (Maître d’armes) at the Czech Lands Salle d’Armes, Prague, the home of the ARS DIMICATORIA historical fencing school, the BARBASETTI MILITARY SABRE (since 1895) club, and also a certified fencing instructor at the Czech Fencing Club Riegel (est. 1902).
He was trained for the fencing instructor certification by Jiří Vincenc, fencing master and national team coach from USK Praha.
He teaches fencing with the following historical weapons: French smallsword, Italian military sabre (Luigi Barbasetti line) and bayonet rifle.
He is a member of the First Association of Theatre and Film Fencers, an honorary member of the Czech Association of Fencers (CAHF), and honorary member of a number of groups of historical fencers.
